In today's hustle and bustle I find that there are more and more people that are having a challenge dealing with the stress in their lives. In not addressing how to relax mentally as well as emotionally, the stress continues to grow, and shows itself in many different ways physically. From the muscle tension that people live with in their shoulders and lower backs, to more severe demonstrations of stress like Irritable Bowel Syndrome, or worse heart attacks. One of the more common maladies that people suffer from is headaches and most of them are triggered by stress or tension. They usually strike across the front of the forehead but can find themselves finding a home anywhere inside your head. Now the cause of headaches can be vast and varied, so if you find that you have headaches on a consistent basis, please seek medical attention. If however you suffer from tension headaches, and you can tell the difference, then the following procedure might be beneficial for you.
Find a comfortable chair to begin, and sit down making sure that you are able to rest your head back with ease. Take a relaxed deep breath in holding it for a count of three, and let your breath out, noticing how the tension in your body begins to loosen. Now close your eyes and just let your eye lids relax, imagining that the lids are getting heavy and so relaxed. In the darkness that you find yourself in with your eyes closed, I want you to imagine that there is a mini camera, I call it your mind's eye, that when activated can actually roam around and see things from the inside of your body. Now allow your mind's eye to focus on the inside of your head and locate where this headache actually resides inside, is it on the left or right side of your head, in front or in the back. Once you have located it start to move this imaginary camera around and discover other things about what you are looking at, how big is it, what shape does it take, is it a specific colour, just take your time and find out as much as you can about this thing that had caused you so much discomfort. In all my dealings with people and their headaches, I also know that very rarely does it occupy the entire space under your dome, so there is an area in your head that feels perfectly fine. Go ahead and send the camera over to that area and do the same discovery. Pay close attention to the colour and the texture of that perfectly fine area of your noodle, notice the difference in the two area's. Cool hey! Now comes the fun part! After noticing all the different facets of the area of your brain that feel perfectly fine, allow yourself to wonder how you can begin to change the area that was causing you the grief. As an example if the shape of that are is rough, or spiky and you notice that the rest of the inside of your head is smooth, how are you going to smooth the rough spots out, maybe with a piece of imaginary sand paper or a chamois. If the colour is black or dark in the affected area and the rest of your brain is pink, from your mind's eye perspective, how are you going to turn the problem area pink, I don't know but maybe you can remember finger painting as a kid or spray painting a wall or car. Just imagine what the paint feels like in between your fingers all squishy and gooey, and pick a spot to start finger painting that dark mass to pink.
Once you have modified that old mass to the same texture and colour as the rest of your head just note now what happened to your old headache. Poof its gone!
Enjoy your freedom!
